The U.S. is moving to expand the production base behind some of the interceptors Ukraine depends on. New seven-year contracts with General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin are intended to triple PAC-3 MSE output for Patriot systems and quadruple THAAD interceptor production, while accelerating production of key missile components.

What This Changes
The important shift is not any single attack. Russia is trying to increase the volume and speed of threats Ukraine must intercept, while Ukraine is attacking the infrastructure that helps sustain Russia’s war effort and developing more of its own air-defense capability. Expanded U.S. interceptor production could improve supply over time, but Ukraine’s immediate problem remains the same: it needs more interceptors now.
